After a couple of months with a Zatista listing they sold three of my paintings. These layered/textured little landscapes. Very excited and pleased, which encourages me to add more work to the site. Since building the new Liz Zorn Art site and getting my work back online in a more organized way I have experienced a lot of great feedback as well as sales from online sources. Perhaps this really is a viable alternative to having all of my work tied up with an exclusive gallery contract. In the old days none of this would have been possible and artists were literally at the mercy of the gallery system. It's great to have some control as well as there being transparency with the online dealers. This is such an important thing. Particularly when I have bad memories of a gallery who sold tons of my work only to close up shop and not provide any information about sales and clients. I ended up with only a handful of names and info about sales. I get that they like to protect their interests, but it is (or should be) a two way street. I will do everything I can to help a gallery sell my work and work with clients. It should be that simple.
For now I am happy to cultivate these online relationships, participate in open studios and group shows. Who knows it may end up being the right fit for me.
